Summary

The Cleveland Municipal School District class sizes are approximately 20-25 students per teacher. The need for tutors is greater than ever in Cleveland community. In order to address this need, the Cleveland Federal Community Leadership Institute (CFCLI) program contacted the Cleveland Public School District via the Greater Cleveland Partnership, subsequently working together to start a tutoring program for the 2006-07 school year. The Federal Executive Board Tutoring Program was created with 50 federal employees who tutored at two Cleveland Municipal schools. Based on this success, the Federal Executive Board Tutoring Program has grown tremendously and the number of participating tutors has increased over the years. Currently, our program is serving four (4) elementary schools within the community. Last year tutors representing several federal agencies assisted approximately 100 students. Our current goal will be to increase tutor participation and awareness of our program within each of the twenty agencies listed below.
The Federal Executive Board Tutoring Program is implemented by a multi-agency team with current members from Veteran’s Administration (VA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Defense Financing and Accounting Service (DFAS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
